A Look at the Top Sales of 2021 So Far

Earlier this year we wrote that 2021 might just be the best year ever for domain name sales and we see no reason to believe that won’t be the case. There have been a number of high profile publicly announced sales, but most sales are still private. The largest sale of the year was probably Home.com and Ass.com reportedly sold for $6m. Just in the past week we’ve learned of several private sales that might have placed in the top 10 if they were public: Front.com, Universal.com, Bulletin.com, and Cool.com all were reportedly sold. Single word .com domains are the hottest segment of the market.  It’s been a long time coming, but companies have recognized the value of having the best possible domain.

Here are the top 10 public sales reported by DNJournal:

Christmas.com    $3,150,000

The domain has been developed into a holiday and seasonal decor site.  Currently it features decor for the 4th of July.

Angel.com    $2,000,000
Angel.com is a crowd funding site for family friendly TV, web shows and movies.

Exodus.com    $1,945,000
Exodus.com is now a crypto wallet allowing you to send, receive and exchange various forms of crypto.

Meme.com    $1,250,000
Meme.com is still under development, but it promises to be the “first project that builds a platform to measure the value of memes, using different crypto incentives that help fund meme creators.”

eBike.com    $1,008,900

eBike.com currently forwards to Bosch.com.  Bosch, a huge multinational company, makes ebike systems among many other things.  Perhaps they are going to move further into the space?

SelfMade.com    $977,500
STOFF & STIL bought SelfMade.com and it looks as though they are going to rebrand.  They are a large chain of European “do it yourself” stores.

Recursion.com    $904,000
They describe themselves as “a clinical-stage biotechnology company decoding biology by integrating technological innovations across biology, chemistry, automation, data science and engineering to industrialize drug discovery.”  A great name and some lofty goals.

GoBet.com    $850,000
Nothing here yet.

Tattoo.com    $812,000
Currently a lifestyle site focused on tattoos, tattoo artists, and music.

Poker.net    $750,000
Just a parked page right now.

If you’re looking to upgrade to a one word .com domain, we recommend working with a domain broker.
